Summer's 2012 Fashionistas release has a pink and blue jersey dress with a bold number five front print, pom-pom details, silver knit leg warmers and a side ponytail — the sporty end of the Fashionistas lineup, a look that sits immediately in the world of Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse and the early 2010s Barbie universe at its most colourful.

Like all the 2012 Fashionistas, Summer came with a ring-style accessory that connected to the Fashionistas app — an early nod to the digital world that gives this wave a historical footnote beyond the fashion itself, the physical and the digital briefly occupying the same box at a moment when that combination still felt new.
