Refund & Returns Policy

Thank you for shopping at Melody Likes. We specialise in vintage and retro toys, collectibles, and rare items. Because many of our products are unique and pre-loved, we handle every return request with care, transparency, and fairness. This policy applies to all customers, including international shoppers.


1. Condition of Vintage Items

Most items at Melody Likes are vintage, pre-owned, or collectible. We describe the condition of every item as accurately as possible and provide clear photographs so you can shop with confidence.

Please read descriptions and inspect all images carefully before purchasing. Normal signs of age, wear, or vintage character are to be expected and do not constitute a fault.


2. Change of Mind

Due to the unique, one-of-a-kind nature of our items, we are unable to accept returns or issue refunds for change of mind. This applies to all customers, including international buyers.

We encourage you to review all listing images, descriptions, and condition notes carefully before completing your purchase. If you have any questions about an item, please contact us at customercare@melodylikes.com before ordering — we are always happy to help.


3. Incorrect, Missing, or Misrepresented Items

If your item arrives and does not match its description or listing images, is missing components that were not disclosed, or has been significantly misrepresented, please contact us within 72 hours of delivery with clear photographs and a description of the issue.

Depending on the circumstances, we may offer one of the following resolutions:

  • A partial refund
  • A full refund
  • A replacement (where available)
  • Store credit

Please note that if a refund is issued, the original shipping cost is non-refundable.


4. Damage During Shipping

We package all items carefully to ensure they arrive safely. However, transit damage can occasionally occur and is outside our control.

If your parcel arrives damaged, please photograph both the packaging and the item as soon as possible and contact us within 72 hours of delivery. We will do our best to assist and, where eligible, will help lodge a courier claim on your behalf. Please be aware that claim outcomes can vary by carrier and country.


5. Return Shipping

If a return is approved, the item must be returned in the condition it was received and sent via tracked shipping.

Where Melody Likes is at fault — for example, an incorrect item was sent or a listing was materially misrepresented — we will cover the cost of return shipping.

Where Melody Likes is not at fault — such as in cases of courier damage or issues outside our control — return shipping costs may be the responsibility of the customer.


6. International Customers

For customers outside New Zealand, please be aware of the following:

  • Import taxes, duties, and customs fees are non-refundable
  • Refunds do not include the original shipping cost
  • Currency conversion differences are outside our control and cannot be compensated
  • International courier investigations may take longer to resolve

7. Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned unless they are faulty or have been misrepresented:

  • Gift cards
  • Mystery boxes
  • Digital downloads
  • Clearance items marked as Final Sale
  • Any item sold as-is

8. Payment Disputes & Chargebacks

If you have a concern about your order, we ask that you please contact us directly at customercare@melodylikes.com before initiating a dispute or chargeback with your bank or card issuer. In most cases we are able to resolve issues quickly and fairly without the need for third-party intervention.

Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in delays to your resolution and could affect your ability to purchase from Melody Likes in the future.


9. Afterpay

If your order was placed using Afterpay, our standard refund and returns terms still apply. Please note that Afterpay has its own dispute process, and any approved refund will be returned in accordance with Afterpay's terms. If you have questions about how a refund will affect your Afterpay payment plan, please contact Afterpay directly.


10. Refund Processing Times

Once a refund has been approved and processed by us, please allow 5–10 business days for the amount to appear in your account. Timeframes may vary depending on your bank or card issuer.

Please note that refunds will always exclude the original shipping cost.
