Product Description
Fifty Years of Barbie Printed on One Ballgown — Every Era on the Skirt, Every Logo in the Panels
Generations of Dreams Barbie was released in 2009 for Barbie's 50th anniversary — the Collector Edition commissioned to be the ultimate tribute to five decades of the doll. The ballgown skirt is a patchwork of Barbie's visual history: logos, illustrated faces, fashion illustrations, box art, and character imagery from across the line's entire run, arranged across multiple panels on pale pink tulle dotted with paillettes. The sequined bodice is a separate layer from the archive skirt, and the construction gives the gown a trophy quality — something made to be read carefully rather than admired at a distance. Model number N6571, Barbie Collector designation.
Barbie was introduced at the New York Toy Fair on 9 March 1959 — which means the 50th anniversary fell in 2009, and Mattel commissioned several tribute releases to mark it. Generations of Dreams is the most literal: the skirt is the entire archive, flattened and sewn into fabric. It includes the 1959 ponytail silhouette, the Malibu Barbie era, the Great Eras artwork, the Superstar face, and the colour palettes of every decade, making it one of the more genuinely historical fashion garments the line ever produced. The window-box presentation with the 50th anniversary medallion tag is designed to be displayed without opening.
Please note: Please note: The box is fragile and has been taped to prevent it from coming apart.

Buying Vintage at Melody Likes
Every vintage piece in our shop is photographed exactly as it is — what you see in the images is what you will receive.
Our photos are part of the product description, so please take the time to review them carefully before purchasing.
All items are sold in the condition described and shown. These are real pieces with real history, and we think that's part of what makes them special.
📦 Carded & Boxed Items
Vintage packaging can show its age — you may see card yellowing, corner wear, bubble discolouration or light crushing, and sticker residue. The item inside is typically untouched. What you see is what you get.
🤖 Loose Figures & Playsets
Loose vintage figures and playsets may show paint wear, light scuffing, or minor marks from years of storage or play. Accessories are noted in the listing — if it isn't mentioned, it's not included.
🧸 Plush & Soft Toys
Vintage plush can show pile flattening, light colour fade, or gentle wear at seams and features. We note any significant issues in the listing, and our photos show the piece as it truly is.
📚 Books & Paper Goods
Paper ages beautifully — but it does age. Vintage books may show spine wear, light browning, or minor cover scuffs. Any notable marks or damage are called out in the listing description.
✨ Modern Collectibles
Modern collectibles are described with the same care and accuracy as our vintage items. As a recent release, stock or manufacturer imagery may be used in place of personal photography — this will always be noted in the listing.
