Her Face Literally Glows — Mattel Put Glitter in the Face Paint and Called It Ethereal, Which Is Correct

Ethereal Princess Barbie was a 2006 Pink Label Collector release designed by Sharon Zuckerman as a tribute to an enchanted royal world — and the face treatment is what makes it mean something. Zuckerman specified soft glittery hues painted directly into the face paint layers, so the doll catches light differently from a standard finish. The blue chiffon ball gown has a silvery chiffon front inset and beaded ribbon at the shirred bodice, and the doll is fully articulated for posing. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, tiara, shoes, and doll stand.

The Pink Label tier sat between mass-market Barbie and the Gold Label collector editions — considered enough to justify a certificate, accessible enough to find at retail. Ethereal Princess was released alongside Golden Angel, her green-gowned counterpart, and together they represent Zuckerman's most overtly fantasy-themed work for the line. The glitter face treatment, used selectively on premium releases, is the detail that places this above the standard Pink Label field.
