Princess Edeline came from the 2006 Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses line with articulated ballet arms that could be posed mid-pirouette — auburn hair, a peach glitter tutu ballgown and a crystal tiara, packaged in the distinctive cylindrical tube container that made the range so instantly recognisable on shelves.

The 12 Dancing Princesses film gave Barbie a full ensemble cast for the first time in the animated series — twelve sisters, twelve distinct looks, twelve personalities — and the tube packaging format gave each individual release a sculptural presence on a shelf that flat-box dolls could not match, the cylinder becoming as much a part of the identity as the doll inside.
