Titania Is the Queen of the Fairies in Shakespeare — Barbie Gets the Part and the Wings Are Real Fabric

The Barbie as Titania Hallmark Keepsake Ornament from 2005 depicts Barbie in the role of Titania from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Sculpted by Patricia Andrews, the ornament lavender and green tones, and the wings are formed from a fine wire armature with a glittery organza panel. Titania wears a flower crown and carries a curling vine tendril accessory in each hand.

Patricia Andrews was one of Hallmark's most prolific ornament artists of the early 2000s, and the Barbie as Titania ornament is one of the more elaborate constructions in her Barbie series — the combination of handcrafted resin body with real fabric skirt and wire-frame wings gives the piece a tactile quality that purely resin ornaments don't achieve. A Midsummer Night's Dream was Mattel's 2005 Barbie Collectibles title, pairing the Shakespeare character with the high-fashion doll aesthetic that the Barbie Collectibles line favoured throughout this period.
