In Mattel's 2004 Pink Label Zodiac Collection, Aries gets red. This is correct. Aries is the fire sign, the ram, the first sign of the astrological year, March 21 to April 19, and a sign whose traditional personality profile includes words like impulsive, bold, direct and enthusiastic — a personality that in no way maps onto a tasteful neutral. The gown is a deep crimson red glitter mermaid dress with a white faux fur stole, a white satin ribbon tie at the waist, and the rhinestone ram symbol front and centre. Zodiac charm bracelet, earrings, doll stand and Certificate of Authenticity are all included.

The twelve-doll Zodiac Collection was released across 2004 as a single year's run, and Aries sits at the more dramatically coloured end of the range alongside Scorpio's purple and Leo's gold. The consistent mermaid silhouette across all twelve signs gives the complete set a visual unity that makes them work as a group as much as individual pieces — but Aries specifically has the advantage of the most unambiguous colour story in the run: the sign is a fire sign, the dress is fire-engine red, and there is nothing subtle about any of it.
