Forty-Five Years of Beauty, Style and Glamour — and the Hallmark Ornament Has a Lighted Display Stand to Make the Entrance
The 45th Anniversary Barbie Hallmark Keepsake Ornament from 2004 marks the 45th anniversary of Barbie's debut on 9 March 1959. The ornament depicts Barbie in a dramatic black column evening gown with a black and white swirl pattern rising from the waist and a black and white sculptural fan hat — an ensemble that references the original 1959 zebra-stripe swimsuit in which Barbie first appeared. A white stole trails at the rear. The handcrafted resin figure comes with a separate lighted display stand: an arched chrome-finish spotlight stand that illuminates the figure from above when powered by three AAA batteries. Model number QHB6601.
Barbie was introduced by Ruth Handler at the American International Toy Fair in New York on 9 February 1959, going on sale in March of that year. The 45th anniversary in 2004 received a broader Mattel collector celebration than most annual milestones — the black and white graphic palette of the anniversary doll and ornament was a deliberate callback to the original swimsuit, which itself referenced the contemporary fashion for graphic black-and-white design in 1959. The lighted display stand format makes this one of the more physically substantial Hallmark Barbie ornament releases, the illuminated presentation giving the piece an exhibition rather than tree-hanging character.

Every vintage piece in our shop is photographed exactly as it is — what you see in the images is what you will receive.
Our photos are part of the product description, so please take the time to review them carefully before purchasing.
All items are sold in the condition described and shown. These are real pieces with real history, and we think that's part of what makes them special.
📦 Carded & Boxed Items
Vintage packaging can show its age — you may see card yellowing, corner wear, bubble discolouration or light crushing, and sticker residue. The item inside is typically untouched. What you see is what you get.
🤖 Loose Figures & Playsets
Loose vintage figures and playsets may show paint wear, light scuffing, or minor marks from years of storage or play. Accessories are noted in the listing — if it isn't mentioned, it's not included.
🧸 Plush & Soft Toys
Vintage plush can show pile flattening, light colour fade, or gentle wear at seams and features. We note any significant issues in the listing, and our photos show the piece as it truly is.
📚 Books & Paper Goods
Paper ages beautifully — but it does age. Vintage books may show spine wear, light browning, or minor cover scuffs. Any notable marks or damage are called out in the listing description.
✨ Modern Collectibles
Modern collectibles are described with the same care and accuracy as our vintage items. As a recent release, stock or manufacturer imagery may be used in place of personal photography — this will always be noted in the listing.
