Barbie Goes to Las Vegas With Daffy Duck and Somehow This Makes Complete Sense

Released to coincide with the 2003 Warner Bros. film Looney Tunes: Back in Action, this Barbie doll is dressed in a western-themed Daffy Duck outfit — a red crop top with Daffy Duck emblem, denim jeans, black cowboy hat, boots and a rope lasso — and comes with a 6" plush Daffy Duck figure. The film had a scene set in Las Vegas, which presumably inspired the cowboy-and-duck combination, and Mattel released three dolls in the series: Barbie Loves Daffy Duck, Barbie Loves Bugs Bunny, and Barbie Loves Tweety Bird.

The Looney Tunes Back in Action collaboration was part of Mattel's ongoing licensed character tie-in programme for Barbie, which produced some of the more unexpected pairings in the doll's history. The combination of a fashion doll in a character-themed western outfit alongside a small plush of the character itself is a specific nineties-and-early-2000s Mattel formula that has a dedicated collector following — the three-doll set in particular rewards completing.
