Second in the Bridal Collection — and the One That Got the Dress Right

Romantic Wedding 2001 is the second entry in Mattel's Barbie Bridal Collection — the Collector Edition series that released a new bridal Barbie each year through the early 2000s. The gown combines a strapless satin bodice with a voluminous skirt in off-white with a soft yellow floral jacquard pattern woven through the fabric, topped by a sheer tulle overskirt and a cathedral-length veil trimmed with pink and yellow flowers. Barbie carries a small floral bouquet tied with a cream ribbon, wears a faux pearl choker and matching ring, and comes with a doll stand and certificate of authenticity.

The Bridal Collection ran as an annual series, with each entry using the same collector-tier construction and packaging format but a distinct gown design. The second entry is typically considered the stronger of the early releases — the first Bridal Collection doll leaned heavily on traditional white, while Romantic Wedding introduced the yellow floral jacquard into an otherwise classic silhouette, giving the gown a more distinctive character. The combination of the Barbie Collectibles branding and the Collector Edition designation places this in the premium tier of Mattel's 2001 output.
