Barbie Rides a Harley — and the Hallmark Sculpt Gets Every Detail of the Fat Boy Right

The Harley-Davidson Barbie Keepsake Ornament was released by Hallmark in 2000 as part of their ongoing Barbie ornament series — sculpted by Anita Marra Rogers in her characteristic approach to miniature figure detail. Handcrafted in resin, the ornament shows Barbie in full Harley-Davidson leather: black jacket, black trousers, black boots and a black cap with the H-D logo, seated astride a detailed Fat Boy motorcycle with orange and chrome finish. The motorcycle is rendered with the engine detail, chrome pipes and fork geometry that Harley riders would recognise immediately.

The Harley-Davidson Barbie doll line launched in 1997 and produced several editions through the early 2000s — the Hallmark ornament range ran in parallel, giving collectors a way to add the biker Barbie to their tree without dedicating shelf space to the full doll. The 2000 ornament is the second in the Hallmark Harley-Davidson Barbie series, the first having appeared in 1999. Anita Marra Rogers sculpted both, giving the pair a visual consistency that the later editions — produced by different artists — don't quite maintain.
