Auburn-haired Barbie wears a cobalt blue satin jacket trimmed with lace and pearl-like buttons over a two-tiered white and yellow stripe skirt with a pink ribbon bow at the waist, carrying a small school book and accompanied by a little white lamb with its own pink bow — both of them seemingly en route to the schoolhouse painted in the box's illustrated storybook backdrop.

The Nursery Rhyme Collection brought the most familiar verses of childhood into collector doll form, and Mary Had a Little Lamb is the one with the most room to work with — the colour combination of the cobalt jacket against the yellow and white stripe skirt, with the lamb as a companion rather than an accessory, gives this release a warmth the series built on throughout its run.
