March of Dimes WalkAmerica Barbie is a Kmart Special Edition released in 1997 to support the March of Dimes charity walk — an event that had been raising funds for maternal and infant health since 1970. A portion of every doll's sale price went directly to the foundation, which makes this particular Barbie a more purposeful purchase than most Kmart exclusives of the era managed to be.

The doll's styling is a very specific snapshot of 1997 athletic fashion: red WalkAmerica branding on the crop top, a grey zip hoodie, a high platinum ponytail with blue front streaks and a tan scrunchie. None of those choices would be made in any other year, which is what makes finding her in the original box feel like time travel.
