Holiday Season Barbie 15581 is a Special Edition mass-market release — distinct from the formal Happy Holidays collector series — dressed in an oversized green and black knitted Christmas tree sweater, a short red skirt, white tights, black ankle boots and a Santa hat, and comes with a miniature decorative wreath complete with a red ribbon hanger.

In 1996 the Spice Girls released Wannabe, Tamagotchis were about to take over every schoolbag in the world, and the Christmas toy aisle was working at full intensity. Holiday Season Barbie was the affordable end of that — a doll that felt festive and fun rather than collectible and formal, and one that has aged into exactly the kind of nineties time capsule that collectors now go looking for.
