Army Barbie arrived in 1989 as part of Mattel's American Beauties Limited Edition Collection — dressed in a reproduction of an authentic Army officer's evening uniform, with a form-fitting dark jacket, gold braid, dress shoulder knots, military medals and regulation faux pearl jewellery.

The long formal skirt and the short alternative skirt give her two distinct looks, and the beret is the detail that completes the silhouette — making this one of the most sharply realised professional Barbies of the late eighties.
