Day to Night Barbie Had a Pink Power Suit That Became an Evening Gown and Treated Both as Equally Important

The 1985 Day to Night Barbie is the career-woman concept at its most committed — a pink suit that transitions into an evening gown, built around the idea that a woman in the 1980s could handle an office and a party on the same schedule without changing her confidence level. The plastic has yellowed and splits are present; items have also come unsecured within the box. All of this is visible in the photographs.

Day to Night launched as Barbie's most explicit career statement of the decade — the same year that Working Woman magazine was at peak circulation and the power suit had become the defining garment of professional women's fashion.
