All-Star Is Up to Bat — Schleich Gave the Snorks a Baseball Diamond in 1984

All-Star appears here in his baseball variant, wooden bat in hand and ready at the plate. Schleich produced this alongside the other All-Star sports figures in 1984, and the baseball pose is one of the more dynamic stances in the line.

The Snorks were a Saturday morning cartoon about underwater creatures with snorkels on their heads, and Schleich's decision to put them in full sporting gear — baseball, football, soccer, kite flying — is one of those toy design choices that nobody questioned at the time and that now feels like the most natural thing in the world.
