Model 7541 is the 1983 Dolls of the World Swiss Barbie, one of the early entries in a series that launched in 1980 and ran for over two decades, and one of the pieces from the Taiwan manufacturing era that gives early DOTW releases their specific character. The face sculpt, the vinyl quality, and the construction details on pre-1985 Dolls of the World releases are distinct from later entries in ways that collectors who know the line well can identify immediately, and that distinction is part of what makes the early pieces worth pursuing specifically rather than as part of the general DOTW category.

Switzerland in 1983 is the kind of collector note that sounds like a category until you actually try to find one in the original packaging, at which point it becomes a quest. The collectors who were buying Barbie in 1983 were largely buying her for children who opened her immediately, which means the NRFB survival rate for early eighties Dolls of the World releases is considerably lower than the production numbers of the time would have implied.
