The Fashion Model Collection launched in 2000 with a deliberate reference to Barbie's 1959 origins as a fashion doll for adults, and the Silkstone body - a harder, more poseable material than the standard Barbie - gave the series a physical distinction that matched the visual identity. Dusk to Dawn is an early entry in that project and carries the energy of a line that knew exactly what it was trying to do.

The fashion illustration aesthetic of the Fashion Model Collection drew directly from the mid-century references that had always been part of Barbie's visual DNA but had been gradually set aside in favour of more contemporary styling. Bringing those references back with deliberate intention rather than nostalgia gave the collection a coherence that collectors responded to immediately. Dusk to Dawn in the original box is the kind of piece that caused that response.

Manufacturer: Mattel
Country of manufacture: China
Model #: 29654
Melody Likes box condition grade: Pristine - View our box condition guide
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0709/4504/6718/files/2001-barbie-fashion-model-collection-dusk-to-dawn-doll-1.jpg?v=1790568512
